Popscene, located at 330 Rich within the artistically charged city of San Francisco California, was home to surprise special guests The Codeine Velvet Club. These Scottish Rockers combined the decadent flavor of the 50‘s with an avant gard stylistic twist. The result was a creation of tunes that tickled the ears and engulfed the dance floor. This pop-rock phenomenon is made up of vocalist Lou Hickey, guitarist/vocalist Jon Lawler, guitarist/keyboardist Will Foster, bassist Lewis Gordon, and drummer Ross McFarlane.
Performing several tracks including the soon to be re-leased single, “Vanity Kills”, and the fan favorite “Hollywood”, whose video is quite an experience, filled the room with a unique melodic bounce that only this group could conjure.
Embodying a dress to impress atmosphere, the C.V.C. class act did not disappoint as their garbs emulated their musical pieces like pure aesthetic poetry.
The band’s camaraderie shined through each edgy ballad, unique hook, and trumpeting pop that splashed onto the dancing fans like a refreshing sip of musical nourishment.
The melodious vocals, including songs performed from their self titled album, “Codeine Velvet Club”, and striking stage presence left the crowd craving more. Admirers both new and old left humming the echoes of this memorable performance.
